With access to the whole market we are able to offer clear and impartial advice on the best solution to the needs of each crop.
As we are often also the grain trader for growers, we always have a vested interest in ensuring the quality of the final crop.
Black Isle / Easter Ross
With a BSc (Hons) from Aberdeen University in botany, Charlie went on to complete a diploma in Rural Science in Edinburgh before beginning his farm trading career in in 1983 in Aberdeenshire. He later moved to Morayshire in 1991 before joining Moray Barley in 1996, which later became Scotgrain Agriculture.
After leaving Warwickshire College of Agriculture in 1985 Ian has worked in Morayshire working with arable & livestock units. His passion is the agronomy of combinable crops & potatoes alongside the purchase of Malting Barley and other cereal crops.
Alyn hails from a farming background and has a Diploma in Agriculture from Craibstone College Aberdeen. He joined Moray Barley Company in spring 1988 and the company changed its name to Norgrain in Aberdeenshire before becoming Scotgrain throughout Scotland.
Originally from St Andrews, Robert Graduated from Edinburgh Napier University with an International Business Degree in 2012. He then went on work in golf tourism before joining Scotgrain in February 2019, he has subsequently qualified as a Seed Inspector and is FACTS Qualified.
After graduating from Craibstone Agricultural College in 1996, Barny spent time some time travelling. He has also worked offshore and in various agricultural roles which include time in Australia & closer to home in Aberdeenshire. He joined Scotgrain in June 2010 & is a Certified Seed Inspector
Having been brought up in agriculture after leaving school in 1981 Gavin joined the construction industry. This was followed by many years offshore where on his time off he was actively involved on local arable farms. He returned to agriculture full time working for various farm suppliers before starting with Scotgrain in 2015. Gavin is a qualified Seed Inspector.
FIFE & PERTHSHIRE
Neil is a farmer’s son from Angus, with a lifelong involvement in agriculture. He graduated from Edinburgh University with an Honours degree in Agriculture before starting to work for a chemical spraying company covering Kincardineshire and Fife.
Over the years Neil’s experience has been utilised advising on crops as varied as Daffodils, Fruits, Vegetables, Potatoes as well as all the combinable crops. He joined Scotgrain in November 2017 and enjoys the challenges of grain trading as well as continuing fieldwalking for customers.
lOTHIAN & BORDERS
Alan is originally from Fife and hails from a farming background. In Alan previous roles Alan has been a service manager for an agriculture machinery dealer along with twelve years working in oil & gas managing global projects. He joined Scotgrain in September 2018.
James is a graduate of SRUC Edinburgh who has previous experience of working on large arable units in The East Midlands along with some time working overseas, he joined Scotgrain in July 2019.
Lothian and Borders
Victoria is from a farming family in Norfolk, and has previous experience in the grain trade and joined us as a farm trader in March of 2020 covering the Lothians and the Borders.
