SCOTGRAIN RECOMMENDED winter wheat VARIATIONS

KWS SISKIN

KWS SISKIN is a high yielding hard Group 2 wheat with exceptional Hagberg and strong protein.  It is the most versatile Group 2 on the AHDB list. Click on the icon below for the KWS Siskin Factsheet.

KWS BARREL
KWS BARREL is the highest yielding soft Group 3 wheat, despite a lower rating for resistance to Septoria tritici.  A heavy specific weight and high Hagberg means a wide choice of markets.  Suitable for all soil types, and as both first and second wheat.

KWS Extase
KWS EXTASE is a new Group 2 wheat with exceptional resistance to Septoria tritici.  It is early to mature and that high grain quality makes it suitable for milling.  We would not recommend this for more northern parts of Scotland.

LG MOWTOWN

LG Spotlight
LG SPOTLIGHT is a soft Group 4 wheat with good disease resistance and very high grain quality.  It is suitable for the distilling and has a high Hagberg which can also open up premium milling markets.  Good sprouting resistance.

KWS JACKAL is a very high yielding soft Group 4 wheat suitable for the distilling and feed markets.  A real all-rounder suited to early or late sowing; light or heavy land; and as a first or second wheat.

LG SKYSCRAPER

LG SKYSCRAPER is a soft Group 4 wheat.  It has a fantastic yield, is early to mature and has good disease resistance.  A very versatile variety in all respects and approved for distilling.  A high Hagberg offers marketing options.

SY INSITOR is a hard Group 4 wheat which returned very impressive yields last year.  Insitor has very good grain quality and can achieve milling spec.
